Brief history of the Board of Prevention and Intervention:

The Board of Prevention and Intervention was established on 18 September 2012.

The first actions taken were devoted to charting the Board's work, defining its role, and drafting a Work Plan.

The results are described in the Report 2013 which was presented to the General Assembly, July 13-14, 2013 (see tab Information and meetings).

We thank the convener Heloisa Helena Martino for her leadership at the early stages of existence of the Board.

The Board of P&I was established for the following reasons:

  • The EFPA states a significant mismatch between societal needs and psychological offers in several problem areas, such as drug addiction, depression and suicide, traffic psychology etc.
  • The reorientation chosen by EFPA in 2010 places a strong emphasis on the need for prevention.

The Board changed its name to Board of Promotion and Prevention at the General Assembly, July 2017 in order to additionally specify the Board's area of work as well as to emphasis the need for promotion and prevention in the filed of psychology.
